Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
1. Introduction
These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the website tradesfolk.co ("the platform"), operated by PeakWave LTD trading as Tradesfolk ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17118746).
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
For any questions about these Terms, contact us at hello@tradesfolk.co.
2. The service
Tradesfolk is a free two-sided marketplace that connects homeowners with tradespeople. We provide a platform where homeowners can find, contact, and review tradespeople, and where tradespeople can showcase their skills, receive job enquiries, and build their reputation.
Tradesfolk is not a recruitment agency, employment agency, or contractor. We do not employ, engage, or supervise tradespeople. We facilitate introductions and provide tools for communication - nothing more. Any agreement, arrangement, or contract for work is made directly between the homeowner and the tradesperson.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the platform.
Tradespeople registering on the platform must hold any qualifications, certifications, and insurance required by law for the trade services they offer. It is your responsibility to ensure you are legally entitled to carry out the work you advertise. We may request evidence of qualifications or insurance at any time and may verify your details through Companies House or recognised trade bodies.
4. Your account
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information in your profile.
- Keep your login credentials secure and not share them with anyone else.
- Maintain only one account per person. Duplicate accounts may be removed.
- Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including fake reviews, fabricated qualifications, or dishonest profile details.
- Harass, threaten, abuse, or intimidate other users, whether through messages, reviews, or any other feature.
- Impersonate another person or business, or misrepresent your affiliation with any entity.
- Send spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional messages through the platform's messaging system.
- Use the platform for any purpose unrelated to finding or providing trade services.
- Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the platform without our written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other users' accounts, our systems, or any data you are not entitled to access.
- Use the platform to facilitate any illegal activity.
We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion.
6. Your content
You retain ownership of any content you post on the platform, including profile information, photos, work gallery images, project showcases, reviews, messages, and Q&A posts.
By posting content, you grant Tradesfolk a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the platform and in connection with promoting the service (for example, in search results or social media). This licence continues for as long as the content remains on the platform and ends when you remove it or delete your account.
You are responsible for the content you post. You must not post content that is offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, illegal, or that infringes on anyone else's intellectual property rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms without notice.
7. Reviews and vouches
Reviews and vouches are an important part of the Tradesfolk community. When leaving a review or vouch, you agree that:
- Your review or vouch reflects a genuine experience or professional relationship.
- The content is honest, fair, and not misleading.
- You will not offer or accept payment or incentives in exchange for reviews.
- You will not post a review for your own business or for a competitor in order to manipulate ratings.
Tradespeople may post a public response to reviews left on their profile. We may remove reviews or vouches that we reasonably believe violate these Terms, are fraudulent, or are abusive. Our decision to remove or retain a review is final.
8. Fees
Tradesfolk is completely free for all users. There are no subscription fees, no lead fees, no commission on jobs, and no hidden charges. We do not charge tradespeople to appear in search results, receive messages, or respond to job postings. We do not charge homeowners to browse, message, or post jobs.
We may in the future introduce optional premium features or services. If we do, these will be clearly presented as optional and will never be required to use the core platform. The core service of connecting homeowners and tradespeople will always be free.
9. Limitation of liability
Tradesfolk is a platform that facilitates connections between homeowners and tradespeople. We are not a party to any agreement, contract, or arrangement made between users.
We do not guarantee, endorse, or verify the quality of work performed by any tradesperson on the platform. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any tradesperson's stated qualifications, insurance, availability, or pricing. While we offer verification features, these do not constitute a warranty of competence or reliability.
We are not liable for any disputes, losses, damages, injuries, or claims arising from arrangements made between users. Any issues with work quality, payment, timing, or conduct should be resolved directly between the parties involved.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the platform is limited to the amount you have paid to us for using the service (which, as the service is free, is nil). Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
10. Disclaimers
The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Our AI-powered features, including Snap and Fix (photo diagnosis) and the cost estimator, provide rough estimates and general guidance only. They are not a substitute for professional advice. Cost estimates are indicative and actual costs may vary significantly depending on your specific circumstances, location, materials, and the tradesperson you hire.
Planning permission guidance provided on the platform is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal or professional advice. Planning rules vary by location and can change. You should always consult your local planning authority or a qualified professional before undertaking any building work.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the platform available and functioning, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may carry out maintenance, updates, or changes at any time.
11. Intellectual property
The Tradesfolk name, logo, branding, design, and website code are owned by PeakWave LTD. All rights are reserved. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute any of our branding or proprietary materials without our written permission.
This does not affect your rights over the content you post on the platform (see section 6 above).
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@tradesfolk.co. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. We may also remove your account if it has been inactive for an extended period, after giving you reasonable notice by email. We will try to give you advance warning where possible, but are not required to do so in cases of serious or repeated violations.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from your use of the platform or these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we may notify you by email.
Your continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the platform and delete your account.
